I've just had my kitchen sprayed with cyfluthrin by pest control but I'm still finding live ticks the next day.why is this and did they not do the job correctly?

I use Frontline plus on my dogs and have had the house fumigated twice and the dogs still have ticks. All of our clothes are washed in hot water. Any suggestions? It is crazy (and expensive).

My tick experience has been when the weather is damp and warm, they flourish. If my dog goes through woods or high grass, usually a few ticks latch on. I use frontline too, during tick season run my hands over my pup to find and remove them. I've never heard of a house infestation of ticks. All those I find go down the garbage disposal! Mash those buggers up.

Use one of the other tick repellents that doesn't have the same ingredient as Frontline. The ticks get immune so you have to switch.

BTW, the dogs will still get ticks on them, you have to check them before they come in the house.

Try to keep the weeds down in the yard.

Just so you don't feel too bad.....I picked up a dog from the pound. When we got her home, we started pulling ticks off her. We stopped counting at 82. It took hours.

Thanks for the info. We had the house and yard fumigated and now we are spraying their area with tea tree oil which seems to be working.

My dog is on Revolution because it's the only flea protection that doesn't irritate his sensitive skin. He's terribly allergic to fleas and needs steroids if he is bit by one. My problem is Revolution does NOT protect against ticks. The vets sell a tick collar to go with Revolution. It doesn't work. I'm beyond frustrated. It's the dead of winter. The past month has been temps hovering near zero and he has had three ticks! I can't exterminate my yard while there's snow on the ground! Any ideas how I can protect my sensitive dude?

I started using Bio Spot years ago when it was the only topical that also got rid of mosquito larvae. It's also quite a bit cheaper.

It's always worked for me. I used to live in a wooded acreage and never saw fleas or ticks on my dogs, or certainly not more than a couple a year, and at that time, I had 5 dogs.

I still use it and couldn't tell you the last time I saw a flea or tick.

Can that be used daily? My dog is getting ticks just going out into the yard to pee.

I'm using Vetguard Plus (from Sam's) and it's taken care of the tick problem for my dogs. We used Frontline before and didn't have this much success with it.

NO.

Once every 30 days. It's systemic.
