I read some of the comments and others say their dogs make the same kind of sound. It's not realy a howl or a growl. So what do you think is going on?

I'm laughing - that was funny. Nice topper for the nite. Thanks.
Why does he do that?
I don't know I would guess something about it awakens his instinct to howl as an answer to the toy's sound.

Too cute. I agree, the sound of the squeak is setting off his howling instinct, like some dogs howl to sirens in the distance.

It seems to be related to the exact pitch that triggers the howling.

I have a dog that will howl at me when I howl at him first. He will stop if he doesn't like my pitch, or he will howl more wildly and loudly if use a pitch he really likes The other dogs just stare at me like i'm nuts.

Sounds like he's getting a sore throat from doing the howl too much.
Funny. But maybe he thinks it sounds like a injured pup calling for help or something????
