Hey everyone, I adopted a 6 year old German Shorthaired Pointer (female, spayed) and I've only had her for about a week but I've noticed that she sometimes sounds like she's snoring even though she's awake and just laying next to me.

Any thoughts?

Does she have a full loud bark? If not, maybe she has had a bark reduction.

It's possible that she has some growths on her vocal cords. Maybe it is something to have the vet check out.

Snoring noises are typical to short nosed breeds, but maybe not so common in pointers.

Are you sure it is snoring and not "purring"? Some dogs make growly sounds when they are contented.

She actually doesn't bark at all anymore because when she had a bark collar on for so long before she was rescued

I don't know if it's snoring/purring... Hmmm.

I have two GSP's. My 1.5yo male (weighs 80 lbs.) snores. A LOT.

My female does not snore, but she does have light raspy whinny kinda noise when she is awake and happy.
