I have a min schnauzer almost 16 yrs old
She has health issues, has cataracts and is hard of hearing
Last time I tried to take her to groomer where she has gone since puppy she was too agitated—obviously didn’t want me to leave her there...that was right before CoVid isolation started
I have tried to clip her myself w/o any great luck
Have used scissors and just clipped her hair as I can
Her groomer is good to her but she has lost strength to stand for grooming and just don’t like people messing with her face or feet...
Is there anything someone who has been through the same problem can recommend?

Sorry to hear this. When an older dog has hearing and sight issues, it’s twice as hard to communicate with them. If this happened to one of my dogs, I’d take her to the vet and get a mild tranquilizer and let someone at the vets give her a simple shave down. This is beyond the scope of a groomer, and if you can’t do it, your vet is the best choice.
The haircut would keep her clean and comfortable and with her age, it wouldn’t need to be done often. Maybe someone knows training for this situation, but a trip to the vet should be fast and stress free for both of you.
Thanks
This is even harder because our son died April 5 this spring
Too much heartache
My husband who is usually pretty stoic about pets has cried several times today
Just pulls off the scab that was starting to form
The thought is that bad things come in 3’s
So now I am wondering if we should just have our son’s 16 yr old cat who is basically blind put to sleep just to be the third part of the triangle...
I couldn’t stand anything worse than that from happening...
