My Shih tzu seems to be drooling a lot more than usual lately. He is leaving wet spots where ever he lays and he has a wet beard. I have noticed this the last day and a half. Is this anything I should be worried about? Thanks.

Drooling is a sign of two things: nausea and/or a tooth problem. You might want the vet to check his mouth!

Was going to say check teeth. I am so used to drool and their slinging of it with bloodhounds especially after they get a drink.

I have a Shih-Tzu and she has never drooled. Her eyes tear and run but no drool. Is the dog heathy otherwise? Good appetite, eliminating normally? I agree with the above posters re: having teeth checked.

The teeth are my thought as well if it's abnormal drooling.

Shih Tzus aren't a breed to really drool; even when they drink water. Half of the water just comes back out.

If he has very bad teeth or bad breath he may have developed an abscess or something else wrong with his teeth. Unless something is making him nauseous; like his diet then I would be leaning towards his teeth. If it continues I would make an appointment to get him into the vet.
