Hi, can anyone recommend anyone who is good with trimming nails on a chihuahua in Cliffside Park/Fort Lee, NJ? Thanks.

Obviously. My vet is too far for something like this and doesn't work on Sat. I am looking for someone local, even a good local vet or a vet tech, to clarify.

I would reccomend buying a pedi paw my chis love it and I have two and they are really great with it because it does not hurt them at all and does the job quite effectively . I think you can now get them at walgreens . good luck .

Really? Thanks Phonelady. I'd still be interested in hearing about any recommendations for a good vet tech in the Fort Lee area. Thanks.

Why don't you do it yourself? I own chis and its not hard, just use a finger nail clipper to cut the curved part of the nail. Avoid the quick. Once they get used to having their feet handled you can accomplish this easily. I grew up in Fairview and went to Cliffside High so your post caught my eye. I live in Florida now.

Debvic, that's funny. I lived in FL for a few years (2003-2006) and moved back to the northeast--first NY and now Cliffside Park. Are you happy in FL? Regarding the nail clipping, how do you see the quick when the nails are often black, as they are in my dog? It makes me so nervous, so I go to a vet tech or vet for this alone. Thanks.

If YOUR vet is to far, then how about you CHANGE your vet to one more local, as you are looking for on this board.
Open the yellow pages and there should be plenty of vets.

I moved to Fl in '81 and never looked back. I've lived in Clearwater area,Crystal River area and now Sarasota area. I like somethings about each area. I would have a vet tech/Vet show you how to do this the first time if you are nervous. Black nails do make it harder to tell. But remember if you take off a little less than they do, you won't do any harm. Practice makes perfect

KHO-I love my vet and she's worth traveling for. i just need someone local for nails, get it? I understand the concept of phone books and finding a vet. I just wanted a local groomer or vet tech for nails--NOT A VET, NOT A MEDICAL PROBLEM.
