NEW YORK - A new offering from Honda Motor Co. may get dogs more interested in checking out the inside of their ride rather than hanging their heads out the window.

The Japanese automaker showed off a "Dog Friendly" version of the Honda Element SUV at the New York International Auto Show on Thursday.

I went and looked at it online...not impressed, it's set up for the dog to ride in the back un seen...not my cup of tea. I like to SEE my dog so I can check on him while riding in the car. Also, it gets crappy mpg.

I did look at the "regular" one and I did like the rubber mat flooring...sigh...I just think they didn't do enough research as to what people would want.

I know all the folks that compete their dogs in some venue or another get minivans and take out the middle seat so they can put crates in but still have room to cart the other stuff they need.

I'm on a search for a dog friendly car right now I've got an F150 and putting a crate in the front seat is not ideal.

I'm looking at small pickups with the extended cab or back seat. I just wish they got better mileage. I still need a Pickup because of my farm.
