I'm aware of these statistics. At least with ERs paying half, the ER & the EE can split the increase. However, one way to fight back and to DRAMATICALLY cut insurance costs is to do what was done in the old days before there was any hint of a health care crisis. Get a policy that doesn't cover little things until after you've spent perhaps $2000 and met a $2000 deductible...of $4000 for a family. The employee contribution would be cut in half which would mean more take-home pay-- more than enough to cover most of the deductible. On the years that you don't have expenses you KEEP the money.

at the risk of offending some, the increase in health insurance doesn't concern me one bit. Why?

First of all I have lived without basic coverage for over 12 years. I do maintain a catastophic coverage plan. Secondly, during this period I have learned how to take better care of myself. Taking responsibility for my own health was the direct result of losing basic coverage.

Finally, I support a new business model that's called "Access Healthcare". It's a new way of doing business for medical practioners that, I believe, will eventually spread across the country. If you want to know more just follow the links below.
