You could do this with all kinds of stats, it is crazy.
What percentage of people who say they are struggling buy coffee from Starbucks every morning? What percentage of people who are drowning in debt buy a new vehicle every few years? What percentage of people who can't afford nutritious food for their children smoke a pack a day? Etc.
i usually go on 3 vacations in a year. i use frequent flier miles. i have gone to Hawaii and Rio de Janeiro on American Airlines Advantage miles. I also use Airbnb to avoid paying an expensive hotel. I need to go on 3 vacations or else i will burn out.
My vacation plan this year:
Sweden - June business trip but i will have 2 days for myself.
Miami - June
Hawaii - Sept
Miami or Turks and Caicos - Nov.
I would imagine that about $1500 is the bare minimum you would spend on a vacation. Airfare alone can run that, or if you drive it's cheaper but you have gas, motels, food, etc. Then when you get to your destination you have to have fun, so that's $.

I hate you ! Seriously though I am sure such a awesome schedule is costing you quite a bit each year but at least you are putting your money back to work.
In virtually every category, vacationing and vacation spending have been DECLINING. The only thing that's actually up is the number of people who say they NEVER go on vacation.
There are endless silly stereotypes, and then there is reality.
I interpret that as only 42%. So well over half spend less than $1,500, seems pretty responsible to me. I will spend $6,500 this year though half is financed by credit card and bank account churning.
I spent almost 2 weeks in 3 countries in Europe so far this year and went to a couple of national parks out West already as well. Going to Yellowstone/Grand Tetons later this year and maybe Pacific NW too.
I don't think the ones who can afford such vacations are the ones complaining about not getting by.
FWIW, my wife and I (dual income, no kids) travel south for a week or two each year for about $3000 inclusive. This year, we traveled to Cuba for a week in January and just spent 5 days in Manhattan in May. If we didn't have the money to travel, we wouldn't go. The deciding factor for us is generally getting the time off work, not whether we can afford it or not.
