Fisher: NCR chief acted 'shamefully'

...relocate its world headquarters, and 1,300 jobs to Georgia....
(Oh, Snap.)

“We love Dayton, apparently NCR does not,” said Dan Foley, Montgomery County commissioner.
**************************
(Dan should know...They've only been there 125 FREAKING YEARS.)
**************************

“NCR is a great company, the people who work there are great people, but the top executive (Nuti) acted irresponsibly and shamefully,” Fisher told the Dayton Business Journal, a Business Courier sister paper....
Fisher said given the opportunity, Ohio would have matched or exceeded the $60 million Georgia offered in incentives. Ohio offered $31 million at the 11th hour. He also suggested Georgia is using funds from the federal Recovery and Reinvestment Act to poach NCR from Ohio.

I'm reading this article, and I'm thinking..."There's gotta be more to it than what is on this web site. There's just gotta." I know that Georgia offers subsidized (read: free) high speed internet to businesses. I know Georgia offers free land with no taxes to people. I know Georgia doesn't do unions. I know labor is cheap there. I wonder how labor costs are in Dayton.

The Associated Press: NCR Corp. moving headquarters to Georgia from Ohio
More here. It's an interesting read, I think........

I'm deeply saddened to read this news. Many of my family members have worked for NCR over several generations.

Be thankful operations weren't moved to China.

If you'd been born and raised in Dayton, you'd understand the city's shock and dismay. NCR has been synonymous with Dayton for well over a century. The Patterson family and NCR are a fundamental part of the city's history, from the floods, to the South Park neighborhood, to Wright-Patterson AFB. It's a hard pill to swallow, and the grief for Daytonnians is very real.
