Dear All,

I am interested in acquiring videos for 3-4 year-old pre-schooler with, ideally, the following features:

1) animated cartoons (or new types of animation) that feature ancient history, even based on classical literature, and pre-industrial agricultural communities;

2) but also with lots of action, even song; average episode around 15 minutes, maximum 30 minutes, several episodes per video (I have some animated cartoon videos on ancient Greek history - e.g. the Odyssey, the Spartans -, but they are full-length "movies");

3) downloadable from the internet and transformable into DVD, otherwise mail-order purchase;

4) in English, but also in Spanish, possibly even Italian or Greek.

In other words, videos that are both entertaining, competitive with the likes of Disney Channel on the one hand, and educational, competitive with public network children's programming on the other, and that also feature ancient classics and/or pre-industrial/agricultural themes.

I have tried internet searches, but so far to no avail. Can anyone please point me in the right direction, another person or forum, that I can address my query to, or website that I can visit?

If the ideal does not exist, at least something that comes close.

Thank you.

My son was addicted to Baby Einsteins & Little Einsteins.

Baby Einstein - Baby DVDs, Books, Toys, Activities & More

Home - Little Einsteins - Playhouse Disney

I also i liked the Leapfrog Learning DVD.. Here are some reviews. But its much cheaper to purchase elsewhere:

Amazon.com: Leapfrog Learning DVDs 5-Pack (Talking Words Factory / Talking Words Factory II / Learn to Read at the Storybook Factory / Letter Factory /Math Circus): Artist Not Provided: Movies & TV

I don't think most videos that are suitable for preschoolers have what you are looking for. You might find something here to watch online though

Educational Videos and Games for Kids about Science, Math, Social Studies and English

The individual videos are not too long, but they don't use cartoon characters or animation in the sense you asked for.

Sid the Science Kid has videos on science that are pretty cool

Sid the Science Kid DVD Videos - Sid DVDs

There is a set about American History called History's Heroes, but the website does not appear to be working.

These are 23 minutes each

Multicultural Kids Inc. :: DVDs & Videos :: Series :: Greek Mythology for Students DVD Series (http://www.multiculturalkids.com/Greek-Mythology-for-Students-DVD-Series.html - broken link)

These are 15 minutes each

Multicultural Kids Inc. :: DVDs & Videos :: Series :: Animated Tales of the World: Single DVDs (http://www.multiculturalkids.com/Animated-Tales-of-the-World-Single-DVDs.html - broken link)

Some of this is pretty pricey.
