Why do we make kids go to school. Alot of these kids are just wasting taxpayers money. Letting kids choose would lead to better test scores, less distractions, less violence, and just a better environment. It would especially make a change in low income schools. I say if kids want to throw away their life, let them. I say make kids go from k to 7th grade then let them make their own choice.
I agree with you that there are a lot of in-school problems that come from compulsory education (though a lot of those issues have bad parenting at the root), but no 13-year old is mature enough to make a decision that would likely ruin the rest of their life.

Exactly....the way the job market is today kids should be forced to receive a bachelors, good luck getting a job without one.

You think letting kids throw their lives away will be cheaper in the long run?
I think there should be a different type of education for those who turn down a traditional education but no education should not be allowed. It should be college prep or job training. Period. Kids should leave school either ready for higher education or ready for the work force.

This is a reflection of how we've dummied down education. A high school diploma doesn't guarantee the graduate can read or do simple math today. A bachelors means they probably can read. Whether they can do math depends on if they took math in college.
This is the stupidest question I have heard in a while, not calling you stupid, but this question is. Society would collapse within 2 generations. You have to force kids to do all sorts of things.
