I'm going to college and before I register classes I have to take a Math placement exam in Algebra, Trigonometry, and Log.
If I pass I can start with Calculus, if not, I have to start over.
I'm familiar with all of that and I guess I can pass it. but you know that GPA depends on the first years, so I was thinking that It would be better not to do good in the exam so I can start freshmen with easy math and get high GPA
or you think I should pass and start with Calculus and save me some courses and finish school earlier?
First, check that those other math courses will even affect your overall GPA. It sounds as though they are not part of your degree. I can't remember how it works.
But it sounds as though you are not 100% confident you can do well in calc without a refresher? Everyone, including teachers, used to tell me that algebra was the hardest part of calc. But I don't believe it.
I struggled in calc but not because of algebra or trig. I had algebra, intermediate algebra, trig and college algebra before it and did great. I think I stuggled with calc because it was so new to me and might as well have been a foreign language. Oh, and my teacher sucked
If you are decent with algebra and trig I would go for the calc. I know students that didn't have trig and excelled in calc.
If you have to take those classes over that is a year or more of school unless they let you take them at the same time. You are better off taking calc, then if you do poorly, retake it. You can then petition to have the old class removed from your transcript. It will show this on your transcript but your GPA should change to reflect the better grade. Unless you are transferring I don't think it will matter. I know plenty of students that did this.
Double check with the registrar though. I have been out of school and while and can't remember all the in's and outs.
College is expensive. Why would you want to take math classes you don't need not to mention that it will not be challenging for you? Place out of the easy ones than study your butt off. Don't waste any money if you don't have to.

you're right, I agree
but I got scholarship so every thing is paid

Thanx though
Then I'd take the classes. Even if you do well on the exam it just allows you to start in calculus. You don't have to. College math is very challenging. I'd at least take a semester of algebra 2.
Sorry, but by "Spring" do you mean January or April?
