Something between regular and honors/AP?

When I was a freshman, I was in AP HIstory, but it proved too much for me at that age, and I got C+/B- and so as a result, they didn't allow me back into honors History in 10th grade. I found that in 10th and 11th grade, the regular level class was way too easy, with too many stu dents goofing off. It was really difficult to learn much because of the misbehavior, and was was taught was so darn easy, the tests were complete jokes, that I absolutely demanded to be in AP US history in 12th grade, and I got As in it and a 4 on the exam..

non AP science classes were a joke. I guess in English it wasn't that big of a deal, as it was never my best subject. But for the most part, my classes were too darn easy, and only my AP US class was a challenge.

At the high school I attended, the Honors courses would be the middle ground. They were above the 'regular' courses, but not quite at the level of AP.

Maybe you are confused. AP as in advanced placement is a course of study ending in an exam (and not just a grade) for children who have ALREADY taken a college prep level class in that topic. Therefore you could not have taken AP history (which is not even an AP course btw) as a freshman.

Most school in NJ have com, college prep, and honors. Most AP courses are taken as upperclassmen with all of the science and history ones coming about after you have taken a CP or higher level of the same course. Only in 12th grade could you take AP Eng instead of regular english.

We don't have a middle ground around here. Schools usually don't offer honors if there is an AP option.

My son is taking AP Human Geography as a freshman next year. Most private schools around here offer that class to freshmen.

Yes he/she could have depending on the school system.

My school system freshman was still middle school, however my cousin - freshman was high school. The only reason why i paid attention was because I HAD to take AP courses (which I didn't have an option) to even have a remote chance of getting into the Air Force Academy. The AP courses througout my "high school" career would have netted me a 5.0 GPA which was what I need to aim for.

This is still the same way in the school system I graduated through. AP courses were for students planning on HIGHER education degrees such as engineering and included projects and papers that were overseen by the school district. college courses were an OPTION for ALL students in their Junior year of high school - as long as your GPA was above a 3.0 - which is regular courses.

Thats how the school district I went through did it. My cousins did it similar but his options were more open as far as AP courses went.
