I lived in Santa Teresa, New Mexico as a child. I lived on the golf course in the mid 80's, I remember the area was quite and pleasant. Has anything changed in the last 20 years? I'm thinking of relocating, is this still a nice place to live in New Mexico?

Default Hmmm...

Since there are no posts, it either has changed, or no one ventures there who partakes in this forum? I grew up in El Paso and left in 1980, and to be honest, I never heard about Santa Teresa until I found this forum!

It's grown a bit, more homes along the river and 273, but still seems quiet. Am thinking of buying a home there myself - due to lower property taxes, but I'm not a fan of N.M. income taxes, so dunno what to do.

If you don't make an income in NM then you don't pay NM state tax.

If you have considerable investment income, it will be taxed in NM. If you do invest, consider tax managed mutual funds, index funds, etc. so you can avoid paying too much to the tax man. Do you plan to live forever in NM? That is also a factor. Talk to your financial planner/CPA.
