The sale of the Camino Real Hotel in downtown to the Meyers Group finally happened today, and the historic hotel that was built in 1912 is expected to go through a $70 million renovation.

"Plans call for renovating all 356 of the Camino Real's rooms, second-floor ballroom and meeting rooms, the ground-floor lobby, the hotel's restaurants, and the Dome Bar. The 10th floor ballroom and terrace, which is currently housing the hotel's mechanical equipment, is to be restored and will include a full-service spa, gym, and swimming pool, the Meyers Group reported."
Camino Real Hotel sale completed

The renovations are expected to take 18 months and will reopen under its original name, Hotel Paso del Norte. The new arena will practically be right across the street.

Man. That hotel was a $hit hole last time I went in there a few years back. Since the Mexican group took it over it went downhill. Shame. I liked the dome bar.

Wow, there aren't too many of those Autograph hotels around, they are really nice boutique - luxurious hotels. That's awesome to see that.

I agree . I just hope that Marriott doesn't do like Westin and Hilton by selling out to another "do everything on the cheap " Camino Real-like group in a few years.
