Democrats abandon House progressives - Democratic Party - Salon.com
Grasping to keep control of Congress, Democratic leaders are turning their backs on some of their staunchest supporters in the House and propping up stronger candidates who have routinely defied them on health care, climate change and other major issues.

Raw politics -- the drive to win a House-majority 218 seats, no matter how -- is increasingly trumping policy and loyalty in these decisions, as Democrats shift money and attention in the closing days of the campaign toward races they can win and pull back from those seemingly lost.
Desperate times, desperate measures.

And your post is a comment on the nature of all politics, or what? It's a dirty business, coalman, and we are all in the midst of desperate times, at least as far as we treat each other.

This kind of thing happens every election cycle. And it's certainly not exclusive to Democrats. There simply are not enough resources to go around, so the parties must prioritize..

Not enough resources... is that what they call it these days to become disloyal to your core group... okay whatever floats your boat...

I'm commenting on Democrats that supported the agenda over the last two years getting thrown under the bus. If we take this article at face value they are pushing canidates that sided with Republican policy, I would call that desperate.

That's what is so great about this congressional election cycle. It almost doesn't matter which party "controls" the house. So many Dem candidates are indicating they will not support Pelosi as speaker, are pledging to repeal some aspect of health care reform, promote the Republican position on taxes, and are bragging about their differences with the President. Meanwhile the true believers are getting thrown under the bus as you say.

Look how those democrats who put their careers on the line in voting for obama's unpopular agenda have been rewarded.

Agreed, right wingers are trying to make a huge deal out of nothing. The only interparty fighting is the right. Remember rove going off on O'Donnell?

We have a local Pa state representative( not my district but next door) who's running campaign ads bad mouthing Governor Edd Rendell. And he's a democrat! Suddenly everybody's a conservative and opposed to anything liberal. I think Obama's getting harsher criticism from some of his own than from the repubs.
