Online participants in the poll, which has drawn more than 550,000 responses, also support Trump by a wide margin in a head-to-head matchup with President Barack Obama.

If the election were held today, Trump would beat Obama in a landslide, 68 to 13 percent. But that lead is just as sizeable when Trump faces off against the best and the brightest in the oft-mentioned field of GOP contenders for 2012.

Newsmax Poll: Trump Overwhelms Obama, GOP Field in 2012 Race

Hahaha, no one in their right mind believe that trump even stands a chance against Obama right?

Even though I'm a conservative, Newsmax and Rasmussen are not what I would consider reliable sources. It's like the Huffington Post putting a poll up asking people if Obama going to win in 2012. The vast majority of Newsmax readers would vote for a Republican, while the vast majority of HuffPo readers would choose Obama. Obama is still going to win in 2012, but his gap is shrinking, and now he has a small lead of 2.8 points.

This is the site I always use when consulting election polls

I really hope Donald Trump doesn't become president. He's a failed businessman and a homophobic.

Newsmax is a neocon puppet website.

They would vote for a bag of cement over Barack Obama. Blah blah blah.

When times are tough...i.e. now...we tend to lash out at whatever we can. We are in short reactionary...I guess it helps us vent frustrations among other things. That being said, just about everyone is gaining on the president who is in the hot seat for sure. Some of the criticism is probably reasonable and perhaps fair but a bunch is just that aforementioned frustration.

But Trump as the president? I am not feeling that at all.
