Personally, I am still very much open and undecided. For whatever reason, Ron Paul has been catching my eye more and more lately. I can't tell if I crazy for thinking much of what he says may make some sense:
Ask any conservative about Ron Paul and you will usually hear the following statement: "I love him on fiscal policy but his foreign policy is naive and dangerous." You can also throw in the obligatory "He hates Israel." If someone had asked me about Paul from 9/12/01 through October of 2011, I'd have said the exact same things.
I served, and I can tell you that the real foreign policy experts, the ones that have been there, been on the ground, dealt with the people of the regions, worked to not only defend our interests, but defend sovereignty. We know what blowback is, both through military and economic actions. I know I have said it before, but I have served 6 tours in the region, and all of what that video has to say is factual. I have no idea why so many mediaheads who have no clue about the region, are convinced that continuing this Churchillian policy somehow better protects us or makes it safe. What we are doing is making us a LOT less safe.
I'm not sure if that's the feedback you are looking for, but it is my genuine feelings, and it's backed by fact and history.
What he says makes an INCREDIBLE amount of sense. Nothing he says does not make complete sense. All it took for me to realize that was to hear him in the 2008 Republican Debates. He was the ONLY one making any sense.Then you follow up with more research and you see that he's never NOT made sense.
His entire political career has been about making sense of our F'd up system and offering ways we can stop screwing up our country. It wasn't until 2008 that people started to finally WAKE UP and PAY ATTENTION.

Well the media, this forum, and the 2012 race is full of little neocon chickenhawks who love to scream for blood and war from the comfort of their own homes. They have no idea how the real world works, or how actual military operations work but they don't care, they live in their own deranged and psychotic fantasyworld where America can just rape, torture, and slaughter anyone they want wherever they want and not incite hatred. Their world is a crazy world where everything is black or white and the Middle East, far from being an irrational and crazily complex area, is really just a simple world where everyone is a terrorist and everyone doesn't like us because we're free and prosperous and certainly not because we're over there bombing their people.
It's always hilarious to watch a deranged madwoman like Michele Bachmann call Ron Paul's foreign policy (the policy of the Founding Fathers and common sense) when it's idiots like here who will be the downfall of America. If she thinks that we can just roll into Iran without inciting retaliation from their allies like Syria, Russia, and oh yeah-China then she's even crazier than I thought. So you can tack being crazy on top of being a pathological liar with her.

Sure, an empty suit in Washington will tell you that Ron Paul's foreign policy is crazy. But who knows more about the brutal realities and the uselessness of the wars than the poor troops whom the politicians send to fight? You need to look no beyond to see the credibility of Paul than the fact that our troops and veterans support Paul. They donate more money to him than all the other candidates combined. They put their money where their mouth is.
I lived in South America for a little over 15 years. I got to experience a foreigner's opinion of this country firsthand.
I never went around telling the world where I came from but the ones who knew I was American told me they didn't hate our country, but they disliked our "all up in everyone's business policy". Once during class (on our first day bacl to school) my French teacher went on a rant about the United States and our "world police" attitude. I didn't say a word. He had no idea I was American. Someone did point it out at one point and he seemed somewhat embarrassed about it but he stood by what he said.
People do not dislike Americans because we have "freedom" and money (well, we are broke but it still applies to some extent) They dislike us because we are arrogant and we are bullies. I am not saying all of the American people are that way but somehow they elect people who make the whole world think that is who we are!
Brazil's economy is booming, the unemployment rates are lower, they are hiring people like crazy.. Yet you will never see a terrorist organization threatening to bomb that country and kill their citizens.
Canada is similar to the US in a lot of ways but the world has a more favorable opinion of that country than they do of us.
We need to learn to mind our business and take care of this land.
I will never understand why people are so worried about Iran when we have a Southern border that is practically open!
I think the American people need to worry about that!
Another myth perpetuated by the government is that the terrorists want to kill us for our loose morals (ya know, pornography, short skirts, extra-marital sex, homosexuals etc.). Them Scandinavians' morals would make us look like saints, yet I don't see the terrorists wanting to kill them. Frankly, they don't care if our women wear bikinis or not (and I bet they even love to see our women in them too - don't we all?), unless we go to their country and try to make their women wear bikinis too or if our women go there and wear that kind of clothing there. That would, understandably, aggravate them.
