Newt supporters, please get it into your heads that there is virtually no chance he'd even be competitve in the general election.
Hey, why vote, these GD polls know it all yes?

Definitely not. Texans three times elected Rick Perry, a dumbo candidate. Texas is just not there yet, where a Dem can even dream of being elected. I don't think that PPP polls are that reliable anyway.

PPP polls have been pretty spot on lately. They did a good job polling the SC primary.

I hope that Texas will never be there (the point at which a Democrat can be elected).

That said, I don't think Texas would elect such a crazy Republican as Newt either.

Maybe my perspective is off, because I live in an urban area and most Republicans I know are more sane than those in the apparent base. Maybe my perspective is off because I'm a moderate Republican (I'm pretty conservative on economic issues, but am moderate to moderately liberal on social issues), but I really can't see someone as crazy as Newt winning Texas.

I personally don't rule out Newt. If South Carolina of all places can look past his baggage, then I think he can beat Obama. When he mops the floor with Obama's scrawny neck during the debates, he will win over independents and other fence sitters with ease. That's how he won SC...being a hard-ass during the debates. Obama doesn't have the nuts or demeanor to be the opposing attack dog.

Don't write Newt off would be my advice.

I wouldn't confuse GOP voters in SC with the rest of the general election voting block. A presidential campaign is too long for Newt to keep it together. He will self-destruct and his baggage will drag him down.

I agree completely. Where you and I differ is how early we want him to fail.

For the record, I not only don't want Newt to win the nomination because he's completely unelectable, but also because I absolutely do NOT want him to be president.

Wishful thinking. I personally think Obama will "beat" Newt in each and every debate. Visuals play an important role in debates, and the difference will be stark when people look at that short old fatass Gingrich standing next to Obama.

I'm supporting Obama and I'm actually cheering for Newt because he doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell of becoming president.

Just put up some billboards with the Space Shuttle and Chuck Schumer. That should take care of it - at least in the SE corner.
