Whoever thought to hold Mitt's big economic speech in a near-empty cavernous Ford Stadium... We Dems thank you!

Mitt will say anything to get elected. If he becomes the nominee, I will vote for Barack.

A lot of them were acceptably dressed homeless people, coming in off the streets to stay warm. Not a jab, or attack, just a funny tidbit.

And nep, you'll vote for Barack no matter what.

It's like those images of McConnell or Reid pounding the podium and holding forth to an empty senate. I guess reporters were sparse there too as I haven't seen anything on his plan.

Somebody should lose their job for scheduling such a PR photo op disaster. But it really does nicely illustrate the fact that all of this supposed support for Romney is an illusion. What does that "crowd" take up, maybe 30 yards of the field? Pretty pathetic. (Not that I'm complaining.)

I think that the event was invitation looking at how dressed up they are and the layout etc. But yes, the visual is another screw up for his campaign. While he was there he told the "crowd" about the Cadillacs his wife drives. He just does not have it together at all.

Compare and contrast with the stadiums Obama filled while campaigning in February of 2008:

February 4th, 2008, Hartford, Connecticut

February 12, 2008, Madison, Wisconsin

February 25, 2008, Cincinnati, Ohio

No need to say anything more...

Romney and Obama are practically identical. Is that why you'd vote for Obama? You want the country to beccome completely fascist/corporatist? Because that is where it is headed under Obama or Romney or Gingrich or Santorum.

What a gross miscalculation.
I cannot believe anyone thought this would play well.

The Maddow Blog - What was the Romney campaign thinking?

"What powerful optics for Mitt Romney today, giving his speech to the only 1,200 people with a positive net worth in the Detroit metropolitan area, in a football stadium that spectators will fill to the brim when watching the Lions go 0-16 but won’t come near when Mitt Romney books it to unveil his latest mega-pander."
