I voted for Ron Paul in the primary. I know a lot of apathetic people who don't vote, some who like Obama, some who like Romney, etc. Thank God, I personally don't know anyone who supports Santorum. Unless it was a strategery "operation chaos" type vote in an open primary, I don't think I would remain friends with someone who could support the likes of Taliban Lite Santorum

No. I have lots of friends that I don't agree with. Including Obama supporters, with whom I have to bite my tongue... but friendships are more important than politics.

Depends if I can reasonably talk to them, and they're respectful. If not, screw 'em, it's not worth the stress.

I could be friends with anyone of any political persuasion. Even if you're an avowed Marxist, I'm more concerned with what kind of person you are outside of your politics. Indeed, most of my friends are quite liberal, or libertarian. To each his own.

I would never drop a friend because of how they voted. Politics just isn't that important and I have a lot of friends who have different opinions than I do.

My brother-in-law on the other hand has banned anyone who voted for Obama from his house. As a result I am no longer welcome there to visit my sister or nieces. I think it is sad to take your politics to such an extreme level.

Yeah definitely. Out of my friends I am usually (and by usually I mean always) the more conservative/Republican type. We have great debates and discussions, and agree and disagree on many topics, but always respecfully and never personal.

Only if they can't shut up about it.

Good Lord no. I like to argue!

Seriously, the most rabidly partisan conservatives I know are in my own family!

I love them all, so we usually change the subject to what the fish are biting.

Santorum goes beyond politics to a belief system. I would not drop a friend over Santorum because I would not be friends with the bigots and racists that are drawn to Santorum in the first place.
