Obama has the best chance of winning right now and the republicans have the best chance of holding the majority in the house....so....4 more years the same as the last 4...nothing really changes much except the name calling gets more intense and the partisanship grows.

If Obama loses? for the Liberals it will be merely disappointing.
Yeah, if (or more likely "when") Romney loses, and big time.... instead of it being a "wake up call" for the GOP.... conservatives will just disappear back into their little FOX News/Rush Limbaugh/AM radio/blogosphere combination "fantasy world" and "echo chamber". Which they're positively addicted to now, and seem unlikely to give up, even after they finally 'hit bottom'!
They are going to whine and cry, stamp their little feet, obstruct the workings of the government, lie, misrepresent everything and just generally carry on doing what they do best.
Blacks and Hispanics make up less than 20% of voters, approximately. Doesn't make sense to blame 20% of the particpants while ignoring the 80%.
It was about 22% last time. Whites made up 74% in 2008, down from 77% in 2004 and 81% in 2000. 70% is the tipping point before Republicans have a hard time getting elected at the federal level.
republicans really have to examine what went wrong
a lot of things are working in their favor except mitt romney of course. they are really try hard to lose.
but besides that romney might have actually an even chance at obama. even though mitt is still likely to lose it is not that far off.
mainly its because obama messed up quite badly on many fronts.
Eric holder: HOLD THIS/him AND RUN WITH IT/his. :X
JOHN CORZINE: actually put him in jail you idiots. and letting him go free? are you nuts?
healthcare?: please for the love of god romney better not say a word of it he is bad at saying anything about it. he miserly fails on this topic besides himself being fake.
anyway that should give romney a shot at the whitehouse. unless he wants to lose of course he will at least do those things I have mentioned.
When Romney loses, he'll be branded a RINO by the wingnuts. The ones who selected him by a wide margin.
Yes, the GOP won't re-think their policy positions as the reason why they lost. They'll just conclude Romney (like McCain) was a flawed candidate. In other words, they'll learn nothing.
In 1964, the GOP was moving to the right just as it is today. They nominated Barry Goldwater, who was about as conservative as Ron Paul. Goldwater lost 44 states. But the GOP learned and started moving to the center and ended up winning the Presidency in 1968. Nixon is ideologically to the left of Obama, who would never propose wage and price controls -- what Nixon instituted. Nixon would be the most left GOP primary candidate today and would get about 2% of the GOP primary votes.
After learning nothing, they may nominate someone to the extreme right and then get their head handed to them in 2016.
Think about what the OP is asking in this thread. You're being asked here to stack one hypothetical (what if Romney loses) on top of another (how will R's react). So you get to completely make s**** up, and no one can prove you wrong. Then you can tell yourself what a brilliant point you made, tra-la-la, off you go to smoke another bowl.
Since there are many Romney's, which one will he be if he loses. I know if he wins the GOP will say Conservative Romney won, but what if he loses?
i don't know what others will say, but I won't say liberal or conservative Romney, it will just be Romney lost...end of story... BTW, most Republicans do not think he is a conservative period..I think of him as being fairly middle of the road; socially conservative but not the Santorum or Bachmann conservative.
If Romney loses, it will be because several million principled conservatives stayed home. Just like in '08.
