"James Cox, a securities law professor at Duke University, said the SEC's Schedule 13D forms have always been under legal scrutiny by SEC officials and company executives. He said law firms hired to file such reports, known as "beneficial ownership reports" because they deem who can sell securities, "pay great attention to these forms. I don't find that these parts of the documents are casually reported."
"It's hard for me to believe you could be listed as management anything' without it taking up a bulk of your time," said Cox."
BTW, just Google "Romney, Bain & SEC".... and it ain't lookin good (for the Mitt-ster that is)! And this just after his kinky "impersonating a cop" revelation. Mitt you sly, um, "dog" you...!!
Lol, the professor is all wet. Of course CEOs take leave of absences, which is what happened here and of course is well documented. You guys are getting creative. Obama is getting sliced and diced in the media and we have the die hards continue to try and defend him. I admire your loyalty if not your intellect.
We have never disputed that Romney remained the owner of Bain while he was running the Olympics committee. The issue always has been, who was running Bain? Nothing in the SEC documents contradicts what Romney has certified as true.
On that point, the Obama campaign cites snippets of a few news clippings to make a case that Romney was still a part-time manager of Bain after he left to run the Olympics. But a close reading shows these news accounts don’t contradict Romney either.
Fortune Magazine, July 2, 2012
Remember, Romney did not leave Bain Capital as part of a long-term, planned succession process. Instead, his departure was fairly sudden — borne of a desire to help salvage an Olympic Games that was $1.4 billion in the hole and tarred by a massive bribery scandal. The very first reports of Romney being considered for the Salt Lake City job were on Feb. 2, 1999. Just nine days later, he officially took over.

What did I lie about? The Olympics were filled with scandal. The Feds gave them a billion dollars. Romney was running a social program.
Yawn. Dems in a panic because Obama can't run on his record.
Obama's getting bin Laden trumps anything that Republicans have done in the last 20 years.
Also, no Republican president can run on his record. The last one was Bush. Romney can't even run on his record as Gov. He can't run on his record as a businessman. He's a liar and a mope.
Pubs pretend not to be in panic mode, but President Obama is headed for a second term...and don't you forget it either.

Romney's involvement in Bain represents the reason why he should not be President. This man would be horrible for the country, and it's damn shame that Republicans are trying to push this man on the country after giving us Bush. Outsourcing under this man would become as popular as eating pizza.
Governor Romney left Bain Capital in February of 1999 to run the Olympics and had no input on investments or management of companies after that point," Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul said in a statement.

See this is what doomed Obama. He probably had some dope on his staff convince him that all owners are involved in the day to day operations of their company. It has been abundently documented that Romney wasn't running the day to day ops. Obama got caught with his pants down and is getting spanked. Ouch, that'll leave a mark.

The problem is they've got nuthin' else besides "vote for any sock puppet but Obama, that uppity muslim kenyan socialist"! And at least Obama ran on some message of "Change" and hope of undoing Dubya's crappy "legacy".
While Romney has no real message and is just trying to further his "career", this time by balancing the GOP 'base' of social conservatives, teabaggers, and rabid Obama-haters on one side, and a dwindling bunch of moderates and independents on the other, who don't see recovery and 'change' coming fast enuff. Question is, are the latter folks so desperate that they're willing to panic and start grasping at straws (like a guy who's basically "Dubya... Part Dieux")!
