Buried deep in this story from the LAT, about moron GOP Senate candidate Todd Akin, is the info that, along with 199 other morons, Veep candidate Paul Ryan was a co-sponsor of HR legislation to TIGHTEN THE DEFINITION OF RAPE, so that only "forcible rape" victims would have legal access to abortions:

Missouri Rep. Todd Akin says he 'misspoke' on rape and pregnancy - latimes.com

Boy, wait till THIS gets out! Not only is Akin toast in Missouri, but Romney's going to have to find a new running mate

Well you know, there is rape, and there is "legitimate" rape.

I think the Repubs are looking into removing Akin from the ticket. The GOP power people don't like their dirty laundry being exposed by their own people.

I really don't want to read your article because it's from Think Progress. I'd be happy to respond if any major news agency, liberal, conservative, or otherwise reported on this. Even the Huffington Post. But I do feel the need to respond, so i suppose I will.

call me a woman hater, but if you're a victim of statutory rape, you chose to have sex, and should live with the consequences. If you didn't want to have sex, then that statutory rape would also be forcible rape and would qualify for federal funding for the abortion. Does the left not believe in dealing with the consequences of irresponsible choices?

Their comments about women who were drugged not being forcibly raped is purely speculative on their part. I don't recall anyone ever saying that would't qualify as forcible rape. All it really excludes is statutory rape. If a 17 year old girl has sex with her 23 year old boyfriend, she has made a choice and should live with the consequences. And frankly the ages don't matter in terms of abortion funding. If both parties willingly, of their own accord, had sexual intercourse, they should face the consequences. If there was any coercion, then that becomes forcible rape and would qualify.

What exactly is the problem here?

Akin will still win, though he is a moron. People will forget about this comment next week.

The Ryan-supported bill is nothing new, the Democrats tried to make this a big deal at the time but it totally fizzled. Probably because most people don't want to pay for an abortion for a 17-year old who chose to have sex with her 23-year-old boyfriend.

Everybody knows a woman's body knows the difference between consensual sex and rape, and would shut down them baby making thingies, huh?
FOX has the solutions ...

Wouldn't Akin have to resign--how does the party remove a candidate unless they've committed a crime or they're incapacitated in some way? Being an unelectable idiot isn't illegal, as far as I know.
