Missouri Republican Todd Akin was a known hard-liner – so much so that Democrats reportedly supported his primary race, seeing him as the easiest opponent to defeat – but his comments in a television interview Sunday went beyond what the public seemed willing to accept.
I hope so!
I'm torn between wanting control of the senate and wanting the GOP to learn that you can't nominate these morons and win office.
I can't stand McCaskill, and, from a technical standpoint, would certainly vote much closer to Akin if I were in Congress. But he's such a moron, notwithstanding what he jerk he is to make such comments on issues in which he has no authority to speak. And I am certainly no liberal when it comes to abortion, or social issues on the whole.
Well in that case I got some bad news for ya, hoss. Those morons are the future of the GOP. All the moderates have either left or are retiring.
I don't think so - this stuff is always cyclical. It may be the short term reality, and that may result in them learning their lesson the hard way. But the two parties, in the long run, always ultimately align themselves so that they represent roughly half the electorate. In the meantime I'll fight for conservative principles and defend my party from slanderous attacks (and there are many), but ultimately I'll be waiting at the end of the line with Jeb Bush, Jon Huntsman, Joe Scarborough and the like to tell the rest of the party "we told you so!"
