At 200K a year, you can't move it off shore. There is a difference between being a multi-millionaire and making 200k a year.

Rove has already laid out the strategy--the Romney campaign has given up on minority voters and they need 61 percent of the white vote to win, hence the "bubba strategy" where they go after getting a majority of the white blue collar vote by baiting them with race issues.

Rove counting on ‘white Democrats’ to vote for Romney | The Raw Story

No wonder Jeb Bush, who I really respect, is warning the party about trying to create a "tent" the size of a kleenix box. I have zero sympathy--pay backs are hard, and this current batch of radicals (I refuse to call them republicans) might get away with this for the next couple of months, but by the next election minorities will be the majority in this country. Let's see how that strategy works then, shall we?
So Obama makes explicit targets to Blacks here:

Obama Targets Black Voters in New Campaign - ABC News

Quote:
President Obama today launched an aggressive, targeted effort aimed at engaging African-American supporters for his 2012 campaign.
“I don’t think there’s a better time than African-American history month to consider the tremendous progress we’ve made through the sacrifices of so many, or a better time to recommit to the challenges we face right now,” Obama says in
a video to supporters posted on his campaign’s blog.
targets Hispanics here:

New Obama Ads Appeal to Hispanics - NYTimes.com

Both groups, in particular Blacks have shown no inclination to vote for Romney. He was booed at the NAACP convention and harassed during a visit to a Philly school. So based on simple math he has to get votes elsewhere. Which leaves Whites and Asians. Asians are a relatively small group and quite diverse group. So he has to appeal to Whites as Karl Rove noted.

So why is appealing to Whites in response to Obama's explicit appeals to Blacks and Hispanics racist? I guess Romney should just go down like McCain with honor for what? So the liberal media can call him a gracious dignified loser?

Blacks on this forum say they vote democrat because of their OWN INTEREST... Free health care, free food stamps, free birth control, free housing, free free free... Now you know that most blacks do vote democrat. Republicans have a safety net for those who need help but it is their message to get an education and get off federal assistance. Obama is for expanding programs such as Obamacare with taking money from medicare to pay for it. Obama doesn't like old people very much. Obama gave out welfare raises and for two years seniors didn't get a cost of living raise till this election year.

I disagree I don't think Blacks want free stuff. Frankly there are historical reasons why Blacks view the federal government favorably, welfare is the least of them. When Republicans repeat the line that you are repeating it is taken as an insult by most Blacks since most Blacks work. It certainly doesn't help attracting educated, middle class voters who maybe inclined to vote Republican.

The Federal Government freed the slaves, enforced desegregation laws and arguably more importantly provided (and continues to provide) employment opportunities that allow many Blacks to enter the middle class. So of course if a party is talking about cutting "big government" many Blacks will not be in favor since their livelihoods are at stake.

It's no more true than saying Hispanics only vote Democrat because like illegal immigration, it's not entirely true but there is a small grain of truth to it. What I mean is people are tribal and will vote for the person or party they view as more friendly to their "tribe." From having an on going discussion with another poster in another thread who is himself black, and from talking to minorities of many different races and ethnicities I get the feel that minorities vote disproportionately for the party of big government (whichever party has that label at the time) because they view big government as their protection from injustice, racism, discrimination, oppression, etc. In other words, they believe Democrats "have their back" and if in power will use the boot of government to help them advance. Blacks likely don't have any particular affinity for welfare but they know welfare is supposed to help poor people and single mothers. Well blacks have a high rate of single parent households and a high rate of poverty so they appear to support welfare more than other groups. Same thing holds true with Hispanics. Most of the illegal immigrants are Hispanic, particularly Mexican, so they view the party that is soft of immigration as friendly to their tribe and vote accordingly.

I feel that what they're not taking into account is that the federal government may not always be so benevolent and one day the government might turn on them or some other group of people will seize power of giant federal apparatus and use to oppress them. They might find the tables have turned and they'll regret having given so much power and putting so much faith in Uncle Sam to solve their problems.
And what's your justification for Whites or Asians voting Democrat then? Their tribes aren't seen as being dependent on these handouts, so what motivates them to push for a strong central gov't?

I find it funny that in talking about minorities you paint their motives for wanting a safety net as rooted in selfishness, and not the for the common good of "no one should have to go w/o a roof over their head" or "no child should have to get by on an empty stomach."

Your questions - Republicans: "Blacks only vote Democrat to get more handouts"

What do Democrats believe:

Democrats Believe government has a right to use your money as it sees fit to redistribute wealth, establish new spending programs in times of budget surpluses, and to return to you only that portion of your money which is politically expedient.

Democrats Believe that government regulation and federal control of economic activity can better distribute wealth and services to the American people.

Democrats Believe in higher taxes and increased government spending will "NOT" stifle economic growth but instead guarantee prosperity for everyone.
And your logical leap is to assume that most Blacks voting Democrat are also benefitting from these programs. Why? Are you also assuming that most Whites are benefitting from these gov't programs and handouts?

Again we have another example of the overt bigotry on the part of a Republican. Shocking.

I have not read the post of one single (known) Black poster that has indicated anything remotely resembling the blatantly racist insults in your post. Why would I vote for someone who thinks that I only want "free stuff" when I work every day, go to school, pay taxes and have a small business? Yet you have the audacity to say that we want "free stuff". People like you are the reason that Black people do not vote for Republicans. And the Blacks who do have to hold their noses at the stench and cover their ears at all of the disgusting things that Republicans say about them for simply having Black skin.

thats why i dismiss the gop for the most part. they dont care about trying to get my vote, why give it to them?

i also look at that sea of white in that audience tonight and see it as the past country club atmosphere, compared to the democrat audience youll see next week.

the gop is whites only. rich white males only.

the poor whites are just puppets of the party.

100% this ^^^^

But let's be honest. President Obama represents the death of old (all White and monied) power establishment in this country. That's what all of the Tea Party protests, the 'Obama is a monkey/Muslim/socialist/communist, Koch brothers and other billionaires cramming Romney's SuperPacs, "We Built This" nonsense is coming from.

Watching the GOP convention is like watching a lumbering old beast in its final death throes gasping for air. The only group being fooled by this farce are poor Whites. 'Tis all.
