"I'm running for president," Pawlenty said in an interview Tuesday on "Piers Morgan Tonight.” "I'm not putting my hat in the ring rhetorically or ultimately for vice president. I'm focused on running for president."
i agree with Laura he needs to get his name out there, but if you really have never heard of him, you are totally not political in anyway. Most people do know his name, especially from Ill wihich is close to his home state. I will add, nobody knew much about Obama at this time in 2007 either and hardly anyone had heard the name Huckabee except for people in AR.
Aides made it clear that Pawlenty's remark to the British journalist during the taping of a show that aired Tuesday night was not intended to be his official announcement and even Pawlenty said Morgan and others should stay tuned for the real thing.
But on Tuesday, Pawlenty spokesman Alex Conant immediately downplayed the import of the televised remark. In a text message, Conant told the Star Tribune: "He did not make news. He said he's not running for VP. Said that lots of times."
When I said I was running for president I didn't really mean it ok guys!
Pawlenty is a two term Governor of Minnesota, he generally ran for Gov and governed as fairly moderate and now that he is running for President he has lurched well to the right (probably even further than Romney did). He went from very rarely discussing religion to now wearing his Evangelical pinstripes on his sleeves and bringing back DADT.
He needs to find someone with the last name Goode to run for president.
Goode and Pawlenty 2012!
