Mitt Romney's presidential campaign has banned small vendors from setting up shop at the 2012 Republican National Convention, CBS San Francisco (KCBS) reported on Thursday.
In order to maintain control over all official campaign souvenirs, the Romney-Ryan campaign has barred small vendors from selling campaign buttons and other political souvenirs at the RNC, KCBS found. As a result, small vendors are "are conspicuously absent" from the convention, the news outlet reported.
Robin Abrams of Irvine, Calif., has been forced to sell campaign buttons at a hotel 30 miles away from the RNC, KCBS reported. In contrast, the Democratic National Convention next week will allow small vendors to sell political souvenirs, according to KCBS.
Definitely a good move. Small political vendors can create some pretty hateful, mean-spirited political paraphernalia (this election in particular) and I think it was smart on the part of the GOP to make sure that type of thing didn't dominate the spirit of the convention.

So much for small business and free enterprise.Any one getting an idea of the real Romney? and not just the mouth on the empty suit?= Say anything to get into power then flip flop on everything...ooops.

What a lame excuse. The DNC is welcoming these vendors...now why would that be?

this has nothing to do with support for small business or free enterprise...It was a good move, not a bad one, but again, some can't think of anything good to say about their side so they have to dig as deep as they can to find things, they consider bad about the other side.

Are you serious? You really think it would be a good business plan for small vendors of campaign buttons to load up with anti-Republican merchandise to sell at Republican convention? It would be like them trying to sell Christmas stuff on the 4th of July and they are smarter than that. This ban was about selling official merchandise so the money spent goes into the Republican party pockets instead of the pockets of the little guy....there's a big profit margin in that paraphernalia. For all their talk about wanting to help small businesses, they didn't walk the talk here.
