Obama and Romney face off on energy issues in debate | The Daily Caller

Quote:
“Why? Because the president cut in half the number of licenses and permits for drilling on federal lands, and in federal waters,” said Romney.

“[V]ery little of what Governor Romney just said is true. We’ve opened up public lands. We’re actually drilling more on public lands than in the previous administration and my — the previous president was an oil man,” Obama said. “And natural gas isn’t just appearing magically. We’re encouraging it and working with the industry.”

“But that’s not what you’ve done in the last four years,” Romney retorted, starting a series of interruptions from both candidates. “That’s the problem. In the last four years, you cut permits and licenses on federal land and federal waters in half.”

The Energy Information Administration reported that the United States oil production in 2011 increased 5 percent from 2010, but oil production on federal lands fell 14 percent during that same time.

“On every point, Governor Romney told the truth to the American people and President Obama did not,” said Thomas Pyle, president of the American Energy Alliance. “Leasing and permitting on federal lands have plummeted under Obama’s watch. Under this administration, the leasing rate has slowed by about half, and the total amount of federal acres leased has fallen by 18 percent. Offshore production was down 17 percent last year, according to the Energy Information Administration (EIA).”

“The time it takes to receive a permit to drill on federal lands has doubled, and the Obama administration has issued 40 percent fewer permits,” Pyle said. “These are facts, not Chicago-style campaign rhetoric.”

He also made it no secret in 2008 that he isnt friendly toward these sources of energy. Yet he went out and lied last night.

Yep. And have you seen these liberals claiming Obama did so great actually discuss substance today? Hardly at all. You point out Obama lies, they are silent. Point out WH paying women less, silence. Point out complaints from a woman who works for Obama WH on treatment of women, silence.

They know he didnt do that well on substance at all. He stood there and was destroyed on his record, on energy, on deficits, economy. He hardly answered any questions except to dodge the real questions.

Liberals know this, so they resort to nonsense like making fun of binders. As if a binder with applications for employment are funny to them. I think they know they're in trouble. Obama is being exposed and called out and not even Obama can defend himself so liberals dont bother half the time, yet the deflect or ignore or being up pointless crap.

Lightbulb President Obama...

“[when] you were governor of Massachusetts, you stood in front of a coal plant and... said ‘this plant kills,’ and took great pride in shutting it down.”

Ouch!

Clean coal??? Does everyone have such short memories about what Obama's Green Energy Czar Van Jones, you remember, the self-avowed Communist who had to slink out of the WH over a weekend in the middle of the night after Glenn Beck exposed him, do you remember what Van Jones said about "clean coal"?

Start at the 7:22 mark to 8:16 mark:

Van Jones | Power Shift Keynote (complete) - YouTube

"There's no such thing as the Tooth Fairy. There's no such thing as unicorns. And there's no such thing as clean coal. So let's be clear about that" ~ Van Jones

Oil drilling on federal lands have INCREASED under the Obama administration, increased over Bush's levels of drilling. The reason the PRODUCTION number shows a 14% drop is mainly due to the BP Horizon incident, ie. the explosion which coated the Gulf in oil and shut down that rig's production. The production lost from that rig was HUGE. So it took a huge chunk out of the amount of oil produced (hence the rise in oil prices that came subsequently), but at the same time Obama was ramping up oil drilling on federal lands so that there is a greater rate under him than under Bush. It's just that BP Horizon's production was so huge that it would take ENORMOUS amounts of land drilling to make up for that lost production. So the 14% drop wasn't due to any Obama policies or Obama stopping oil, Obama didn't blow up the BP Horizon and waste all that oil into the Gulf and along Louisiana and Mississippi beaches. The 14% drop was due to the accidental explosion and lost production. The increase in oil drilling on federal lands, however, IS due to Obama policies. That is why Obama was able to say at the debate that he has boosted oil drilling on federal lands above Bush levels, and Bush was an oil man. What Obama said is TRUE.

* Obama said the nation needs to invest in solar, wind, biodiesel and clean coal technology "so the use of coal does not degrade our environment. We can do that if we are investing in the technology, the research and the development."
Obama decries Iraq war, addresses specific issues » Local News » The Register-Herald, Beckley, West Virginia

* "As president, I will tap our natural gas reserves, invest in clean coal technology, and find ways to safely harness nuclear power."
Democratic Nominee Obama Vows to Defeat Climate Change | NBC Chicago

And this is just beautiful from another Obama Czar:

Obama Administration Pouring $1 Billion Into Clean Coal Project - US News and World Report

Quote:
Since taking over as energy secretary, Steven Chu, a Nobel Prize-winning physicist, has been talking up the importance of clean coal technology. The world won't abandon coal anytime soon, he has argued, so the United States has to start doing more to develop technologies that capture carbon dioxide from coal-fired plants.
But what's a Billion Dollars for the Tooth Fairy and Unicorns? Maybe that's just code for Gay Rights.

That was when, around a decade ago? It looks like Romney "evolved" since then.

What about Obama, who promised to bankrupt the coal industry?

"...owners of power generation plants would be taxed for the amount of green house gasses their plants produce, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Barack Obama was very blunt on what he felt the effect on the coal industry would be. He said, "So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it's just that it will bankrupt them because they're going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted." [Source]

You mean the BP oil spill Obama ordered a news blackout on and violated a Federal judge's order when it came to repealing a moratorium? Or the deliberate insertion of a false recommendation into the investigation's conclusive report? Where were all the hypocritical environmentalists crying over dead birds the way they carried on for YEARS with the Exxon Valdez incident? Silent. Bought off by BP and Obama. Disgusting hypocrites.

Did I forget to mention the $2 Billion we lent t0 Brazil the following year for oil exploration by a company in which George Soros owned a controlling share while losing leases for oil rigs in the Gulf because of the moratorium?
