There was another thread about what the GOP needs to do to retake the WH. Messaging is everything. They need to hire the best PR people they can find, to teach Republican candidates how to effectively communicate their increasing diversity in a way that resonates with the public. GOP candidates also need to be disciplined in their communications (ie. there is always a hot mic in the room, don't say stupid sh*t, speak to everyone and not just your base).
The GOP has an "old white men" reputation when the reality is (increasingly) different. That's a messaging problem and they need to fix that. The GOP doesn't need to pander or cater or suck up or change what they believe in, in order to win. They need to figure out how to connect with people in meaningful ways through all media that people now use. Hire some excellent PR - social media - communications people.
And then just be focused, unafraid and tell the truth.
in fact, it could be argued that you changed the subject since the person you responded to is talking about congress, where as your link is talking about Governors.
And even that is misleading since it is only talking about Hispanic governors and the number is 2-0, one of those being a Republican Hispanic replacing a Democratic Hispanic who was ineligible for a 3rd term.
If anything, the premise you argued is far more flawed than the one you responded to seeing as there are 40 to 1 when it comes african americans in Congress.
To the Hispanic point, there are 27 Democrats in congress, and only 8 Republicans.
With Asians, there are 11 Democrats and 0 Republicans
by the way, all of these numbers are from YOUR LINK.
The title of your article pertains only to the one line about governors. Now that, is cherry picking. How can anyone with integrity even name thier article that and create such a false base line ?
It is amazing that, for a constituency that votes 95% for Democrats, there is one current black Democrat senator. And, the Democrats have had only one full-term black Senator up until now (Carol Braun).
On a similar note, the average age of Congressional Democrats is higher than the average age of Congressional Republicans.

Again Cherry picking at its finest.
The best candidate for the job should get it, not just the color of their skin.
In a congressional race, there are more likely to be black candidates, because they are local( majority black district = majority black candidates in many cases), So the best man for the job is more likely to be black But on a state wide referendum, there are more people of different races, the likely hood of a black senator becomes less probable.
There is also the fact that we dont have that many black people running for senate in the first place. Carol Braun ran and won, Barack Obama ran and won. Cory Booker ran and won.
how many black people actually ran and lost ?
Heck, you even cherry picked on senators seeing as Barack Obama was one and you didnt include him because he was elected President.
what a wonderful thing for her. I hope she is successful!!! it shows some people use their heads when deciding who to support and do not base their vote on color, sex or any other one thing.
Yup. I only watched the first couple minutes, but yes, she is impressive. Now that is a female R that would keep a D campaign strategist awake at night.
