Malamute: I disagree with you, I think, depending on the audiance, if a candidate can speak another language and the audience is mostly of that language I see nothing wrong with speaking it.

I agree with you in this case, about speaking the language of the audience. But what i do not agree with is that one group of people should be treated more special or catered to, more then any other group.

I know hispanics now, who won't even bother to learn our language. So do we cater to some, because they will be the majority, and so many will not learn the english lanugage. Or that knowing more then one language, is just smart business sense and policially speaking, a better way to communicate.

This is why I feel so strongly about one requirement for becoming a citizen is speaking fluent English. And this is why I do not think anyone should be allowed to stay in the country if they do not speak English well enough to communicate. I realize we can not send millions of people back to their country and maybe that is a good thing, I don't know, but I do know, you live here, you speak our language. I am not saying the little old man, that is here, living with his family, has to speak English like an English teacher, but even he should be able to communicate..

A candidate like that has zero chances of being elected.Imagine this candidate telling voters that if they want to continue having the lowest tax burden in the developed world, they will have to give up something.
