Seeing that how 50/50 our country is with presidential elections, one would think the House would be a 50/50 House and properly represent the country, but thanks to gerrymandering the Republicans have managed to cook the books and design districts that favor their party and it is something we won't really see any changes with until at least 2020.
It's not gerrymandering. Democrats are concentrated in big cities, so there's 90% or more districts in many urban and black areas. Republicans are more spread out. There are very few districts more than 70% Republican but dozens more than 80-90% Democrat.

The House doesn't represent land, it represents people. It doesn't matter where people live, gerrymandering is used to make majority populations into minority populations so that the minority can look like the majority. The numbers in the House should reflect the numbers in Presidential elections, which currently they do not.
Gotta love the success Republicans have had at gerrymandering.
You are just mad the the repubs learned a trick from the dems who held control of the HOUSE for 40 STRAIGHT YEARS.
I wouldn't be surprised if you thought that the dems did NOT gerrymander ALL those districts which helped them keep control of the House all those years.

THere's no way to really make them more Republican, and make, say, Orange County or upstate New York more Democrat. The district lines have to have continuity, so you can't have Manhattan reaching Albany somehow to balance out the voter registration. Democrats lose in House because their districts are so dense and clustered in little areas. Republicans have the suburbs and rural areas which aren't as polarized but tend to lean Republican.

I never said all districts are like this, but you can go to a number of others cities outside of the big two and see this practice happening.
Still, the House is suppose to represent the population, not land which means the House numbers should be more even.
70 seats....and thats just on th Hill. If you factor in the number of seats democrats have lost in state and local elections, the democrats/libs should be thoroughly demoralized.

Upstate New York is Democrat as well. Don't discuss my state's politics when you know nothing about it.
Outside of NYC - Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Ithaca, Binghampton, and Albany are all consistently Blue. Without New York City, New York is still a blue state.
