Erika Harold - Ballotpedia

She ran a courageous campaign in 2014 for US House in the Illinois 13th CD against incumbent Rodney Davis. Davis is known as aggressive fundraiser who taps everything from McDonalds to Archer-Daniels-Midland. I knew that Erika Harold was doomed when I got a beautiful hand-written note from her thanking me for my donation. Successful candidates send reams of cookie cutter requests for more money, not hand-written notes.

However, there was another poltico who specialized in hand written notes named Ronald Reagan. Reagan had a penchant for reading and responding to letters as is shown in this instance.

As a matter of fact, as evidence of that I have a letter with me. The letter came from Peter Sweeney. He's in the second grade in the Riverside School in Rockville Centre, and he said, "I hope you get well quick
Reagan was also known to send personal checks to letter writers with tough luck stories. Reagan was steadfast, and Erika Harold is cut from the same cloth.
