Mitt Romney seems to have a sizable lead in Florida according to a Rasmussen Poll. The numbers are Romney 25, McCain 20, Giuliani 19. This could put Giuliani on the ropes before Super Dooper Tuesday.
Some circles have leaked that McCain and Huckabee are in cahoots. They have attacked Romney, McCain has not gone after Huckabee. The thought is that McCain has reached an agreement to make Huckabee his VP in exchange for votes at the convention that looks more and more like it might be brokered. If Huckabee can't win the nomination - and he can't - he will likely toss his hat in somewhere. A deal with McCain makes sense.
So if this is the deal, can the nation swallow the ticket? McCain is old (72 at inauguration time) and probably won't run again. Do we really want to give a religious extremist like Mike Huckabee that strong a position for the next election? Do we want him as a VP spokesman for 4 years?
Another theory is that Thompson is supporting McCain. They were friends in the senate. Thompson has been drawing some of the Evangelical vote from Huckabee. From the tone of Thompson's speech following the Nevada primary, I wouldn't be surprised if he drops out. Chuck Norris, whose traveling with Huckabee is claiming McCain "too old to be president", so it seems unlikely Huckabee's in cahoots with the McCain. This certainly is an exciting primary for both dems and repubs.
I would love to see Fred as VP, but I'm not sure how much support he can bring to McCain, who will need solid Republicans to go with his Independent base.
Yes, this is the most interesting primary season in a long time.

I know I don't.
A McCain/Huckabee ticket only makes me two times less likely to vote.
Thompson will be dropping shortly. He will probably endorse McCain, but could get a wild hair and back Romney. Actually, he might wait until Florida passes and hitch his wagon to the brightest star.
Huckabee will hang around until someone offers him a future job in Washington.....for his endorsement.
