Only 2 states allow felons to vote, while in prison: Maine & Vermont
12 states allow felons to vote while on parole: OR,MT,UT,ND,IL,MI,OH,PA,NH,MA,HI
After Prison and Parole: CA,WA,ID,NM,CO,TX,OK,KS,SD,MN,MO,AR,AK,LA,GA,SC,NC ,WV,NY,CT,NJ,MD
After Prison and Parole (with conditions) NV,WY,NE,MS,AL,TN,VA
Never: Iowa, Kentucky and Florida

In Florida, you can go to a clemency hearing with the Governor to try and restore your voting rights, but good luck! Even after you've served parole, you could be turned down because of too many traffic fines.

So! If the rest of the country followed the lead of Maine & Vermont, even allowing voting in prison, how do you think this would influence elections, whom do you think they'd favor, given its now Republicans who are leading the way to lessening our prison population?

Liberal of course: easy on crime, takes guns away from law-abiding citizens allowing for easier crime, decriminalizing drugs, weak on illegal immigration, gay marriage.....all in all, the prison population is greatly benefited by the left.

I think some stupid stuff once they do their time remove the criminal from their record- period. Many young people make stupid mistakes and turn into fine men and women when they grow up- some have served - and still can't vote - that is ridiculous- and I am anti credit bureaus period - unless you want credit

Pursuant to Section 571.3, the military can choose to waive certain offenses and meet the basic qualifications for enlistment. Applicants who require a waiver are not qualified for enlistment until a waiver is approved. The burden is on the applicant to demonstrate that his or her acceptance will benefit the Army, regardless of his or her criminal past.

Oh, I don't know, my answer would be different if you are looking at a subsection of those people, namely, mass murderers, pedophiles, serial killers, arsonists, i-bankers, ponzi scheme operators, neo-Nazis, and so on. They are overwhelmingly Republicans, I was told.

This is absolutely correct plus add get out of prison early and no death penalty or mandatory sentencing.

It surprises a lot of people to learn some prisoners enjoy being prisoners, prison life, and they have little desire to join the real world. And those prisoners will vote much differently!

What a world, no resume writing, pounding the sidewalks/street looking for a job with a record, no worry over being evicted due to not paying their rent, no worries of losing a job and looking for another one, no worries over where your next meal is coming from. 24 hour television, the camaraderie, the compassionate guards providing drugs to the inmates! What more could you ask for!

How about a vote for Jeb! He turned away any number of released felons wishing to have their voting rights restored, for simply having too many traffic fines, whereas, Marco Rubio, according to the article, racked up 17 traffic fines in FL since 1997!

Yup! A vote for Jeb for those want to stay in prison!

Felons would vote for whoever would give them the most free stuff..just like a great number of non-felons.
