I keep hearing about how Sanders is a socialist, but I've yet to hear a PEEP about which candidate is proposing lower taxes and smaller government. Who is this mythical candidate?
Anyone from the Republican side? I doubt it. I say "mythical" because we've heard this lower taxes / lower spending / smaller government mantra every f'ing election cycle for the last appx 30 years or so, yet government spending keeps going up, government size keeps going up, and my tax bill keeps going up. From 1992 right up until today (Ryan's latest budget anyone?), even when Republicans controlled Congress, I haven't seen any changes.
Does not matter who you say. No matter who you pitch, it's all BS. They will lure you in with the lower everything, get into office, and 4 years later it's the opposite. It's been like this for appx 30 years folks. Haven't you learned your lesson yet?
Rand Paul wants smaller government and to send state powers back to the states.
Yeah, though he seems to have compromised somewhat in a probably futile effort to get the nom, at his core Paul is really the only candidate who wants to consistently minimize federal government powers. While I only agree with him on about 50% of issues, I do respect him and would actually like to see him nominated. Sadly, that won't happen.
It always amuses me how spending trillions on the military is "protecting freedom", yet proposing to establish a universal healthcare system is some kind of terrible, money-stealing "communist" idea. Corporations over people, I guess?
That's why the label "not a conservative" is not sticking to Trump. He never talks about smaller government and people don't mind it because all those before him who did promise a smaller government actually grew the government. If Trump delivers on three of his top agenda items people are happy.
