3. Capitol Hill is full of elected lawyers.
You are right there will always be a IRS and no body ever will fill out tax return on a post card. Our leaders will continue to palms greased and reward and punish people with the tax code.

Does Ted Cruz really believe in the goodness and absolute honesty of the average US citizen that will enable the filing of federal tax on a postcard? Would withholding tax and estimated taxes for individuals and businesses be abolished as there would not be an agency to collect and credit them? Would you pay by check once a year?

And what about the "fair tax" pushed by Mike Huckabee and originated by a fellow in Texas, where the income tax would be replaced by sales taxes on goods and services of about 30%. Who would make sure that those who collect the tax weren't sticking it in their pocket and not reporting it?

Just about every republican candidate for president is obliged to come up with a cockamamie tax scheme to mollify certain elements of the base. If Ted Cruz believes that his tax plan will work, he is delusional.

Sen. Cruz will simply transfer IRS employees to a newly created Internal Tax Division of the Treasury Department, and abolish IRS, the agency. Voila.

Mick

So, I pulled up his tax plan. I first see the flat tax. No issue with that BUT I see the Child Tax Credit and Earned Income Tax Credit. That doesn't seem "flat". And it worse after that.
Right, first thing you notice is targeted credits. Not so flat. This plan makes things worse for me and I am not high income. Still end up subsidizing people who make more money than I do.

Part of it is that financial institutions would be withholding tax from your interest or dividends. No thank you.

Well you tell me who will accept and process the tax forms and payments the government runs on? Even if the individual income tax was abolished and not replaced with anything, do you think your income tax return is the only kind of tax form and payment the IRS handles? It's a lie to say he'll abolish the IRS.

The IRS is under the Treasury Department but if you mean he'll just change the name, yeah, you're right. Guess how much that little trick will cost?

Lying Ted Cruz.

If the post card IRS form doesn't get traction he'll get it down to postage stamp size. And here lies, lying Ted Cruz

His buddy Glenn Beck who claims he's a "teacher" and teaches people talks about how good Cruz is and everything related with him. Before Cruz he used to discuss all the time national debt and such and how Obama has created a mess and country is going to be doomed. Now he doesn't talk about that as Cruz is going to beat everybody including Obama in that race. Cruz himself doesn't talk at all about that aspect.
