The Senate races in 2016 is basically setting up to be the inverse of 2014. The GOP this year is defending 24 of the 34 seats that are up, quite a few in swing states.

NPR listed the top 10 seats to watch/vulnerable (they actualy had a tie between Colorado and Arizona for 10 so listed 11). Out of the 11 they listed, 9 of them including the top 6 are Republican held.

Article also mentions how Trump could be a drag on the entire GOP ticket, but primarily focused on the races and candidates themselves.

No suprises that Kirk of Illinois, Johnson of Wisconsin and Ayotte in New Hampshire were listed as the most vulnerable, Toomey of Pennsylvania and Portman in Ohio rounded out the top 5.

With Trump at the top of the ticket, the GOP will do very well to at lose no more than 6 or 7 seats here.

In 2018, the terrain is very unfavorable for the democrats as they have to defend 23 seats (+ 2 independents who caucus with the democrats), the Republicans only have to defend 9.

So if the GOP can come out with at least 47/48 seats, they would be favorites to take back the senate in two years. They're defending a lot in 2020, but mostly in red states.

You'll hear a lot of "the end of the GOP" with a Trump loss but they can rebuild in 2018/2020, and make Hillary a one term president with a proper candidate next time.

The GOP could do well in 2018 but that depends on President Clinton's performance.

I doubt she would be much different than Obama, who himself had big losses in both his mid terms.

From what I'm reading, the True & Principled Republicans have decided to toss the
Presidency to The Leftists & Hillary Clinton. Why would they care about down ball at votes when they are throwing 12 Million Republicans under the Bus?

The Republican Politican Elites have decided that the Republican Voters Are Irrelevant- they are pleased to be in the Minority and allow the Leftists to Pack the US Supreme Court for at least a generation and maybe two..

They care only about themselves - it's up to the people now.

Pat Toomey (R-PA) has been blasting negative ads at Mcginty already. They have a lot of money stored up and are going to unleash it in the coming months. Though the Democrats are pretty determined to make McGinty PA's first ever female senator.

If Trump loses it will ultimately be his fault and no one elses, he's said he doesn't need the establishment or the party to unify. Clearly he knows best right?

Toomey wrote an OP-Ed in the newspaper's here in Philly this morning: Commentary: Advice to Trump: Seek to unite and listen more

Quote:
Trump was not my first, second, or third choice. I object to much in his manner and his policies. His vulgarity, particularly toward women, is appalling. His lack of appreciation for Constitutional limits on executive powers is deeply concerning. I disagree with his proposals to ban Muslims, to give government more eminent domain powers, to be neutral between Israel and its enemies, and several others. In short, I find his candidacy highly problematic.
Harsh to say the least, Trump needs to shut up and listen or he really will get destroyed come Nov.
