Bernie Sanders Says Debbie Wasserman Schultz Will Be Gone From DNC If He’s President

He also endorsed her primary challenger.

05/21/2016 04:46 pm ET | Updated 16 hours ago

  • Sam Levine Associate Politics Editor, The Huffington Post
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) went all in on Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), the head of the Democratic National Committee, on Saturday, saying he supports a primary challenger in her re-election bid for her House seat and would remove her from the DNC if elected president.

Sanders has repeatedly accused the DNC, which is neutral in the Democratic primary, of favoring his rival, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

He told CNN’s Jake Tapper he “clearly” favors the DNC head’s opponent, law professor Tim Canova.
“His views are much closer to mine than Wasserman Schultz’s,” the senator said in an interview that will air Sunday on “State of the Union.”

She should be gone. I applaud Bernie for telling it like it is and not caving to the establishment.

The DNC lost both the House and Senate under her leadership. I find it odd how such failure can so often times be rewarded.

Usually, chairs of both the DNC and RNC are chosen for their fundraising ability. That seems to have been the case for Schultz - Wasserman Schultz to lead DNC - POLITICO

I like her a bit better than I liked Rahm Emanuel, but that's not saying much, since I dislike Emanuel quite a lot.

I wouldn't shed a tear. But I wonder if Bernie's endorsement is a game changer for the opponent . . . depends on what the district looks like. But if there are enough pitchfork wielding Bernie Bros, and you never know.

She should have been axed after 2014.

After the DNC lost 9 seats in the US Senate in 2014, despite that nut job's assurances that it would not happen, I'm surprised they didn't boot her out then.

But Democrats are in denial. This is why they rigged rules for Hillary Clinton. They think Clinton has it in her to reverse the 2014 disaster, when in reality, Clinton/Obama is why the Democrats were routed. That is why this woman still is the chair of a national platform. The only reason she even exists is that she's elected from a gerrymandered congressional district, and the DNC will not let anyone challenge her in their primary there.

She never should have been DNC chair and her reign has been nothing but a disaster. Then there's this election cycle in which she can't even seriously pretend to not be completely in the tank for Hillary.
