I thought the story was that the guy didn't need anyone else's money. He never hesitates to remind anyone with a pulse of how rich he is and how he can't be bought by outside money.
Now Trump is no longer spurning super PACs and eschewing tony private fundraisers tailor made for 1 percenters. Rather he’s tolerating, if not embracing, the post-Citizens United era of cash-flush politics that, until recently, Trump considered anathema to his largely anti-establishment presidential bid.
He's also going around asking his supporters to raise $100K.
A general election Campaign is much more expensive than the Primaries. Both Romney and Obama spent more than 1 billion each in 2012. Romney spent only 76 million to get the nomination. Trump only has an estimated 2.9-4.5 billion(Don't trust his 10 billion estimate). He would have to spend 1/2 to 1/4 of his wealth just to reach that level and the estimates of his wealth include some things that are not liquid like real estate. Other things like the sale of Stock and Bonds would be easy to sell but would have the effect of lowering his income from investments. It is also unknown how much actual cash he has on hand. And that is before we get into the question of how wealthy he actually is.
For a person with 2.9 billion, 76 million is pretty affordable but 1 billion is a totally different category.

Yup... so basically he was lying about his ability to self-fund his campaign?

Basically it. If he were honest it would have been I have enough to finance my nomination(and he could have skipped this part if he ran 3rd party) but not enough to finance the general election. And he is not getting a lot of support from big money(due to his "spooking the horses") and his use of internet donating is very far from Obama levels of funding.

He doesn't.
Sigh.....please do some research before you come on CD and embarrass yourself with these idiotic threads.
Trump has said on SEVERAL OCCASIONS that he was going to self fund thru the primaries, but was going to ask for donations thru the the general election. Sorry to burst your bubble that you think you found some dirt on him.

Wow...trolling your own thread..a new low for you..and thats saying something.
