This argument gets trotted out frequently, but polling data showed very clearly that Rubio and Kasich were the two best polling GOP candidates against Hillary, and Trump and Cruz were the worst two.
So in effect electability in a GOP primary =/= electability in a general election.
[b]In fact whats sad for the GOP is the more electable someone is in a GOP primary, the less electable they are in a general.
It getting increasingly for the GOP to find a candidate who is so broadly acceptable to the base of the Party that it isn't necessary for them to paint themselves on the far right fringe during the primary. George W. Bush had strong enough support in both the establishment wing and in the conservative Christian wing to pull it off.
I just have this feeling that Trump is a plant who's trying to lose this election on purpose in the last couple of weeks. The only reason why Hillary is doing well in the polls is because of Trump also being unlikable and having zero experience as a elected official.
Ted Cruz has a good campaign ground game and is less abrasive than Trump but I wonder how his ideology would appeal to voters in the middle. While Kasich has a likability factor with a lot less charisma.
But I could see Cruz doing a better job against Hillary pushing the fact about the DNC Leaks.
You could be right about being a plant. He does closely resemble an orange tree.
Would Ted Cruz or John Kasich do better in this election against Hillary Clinton?
I don't know. I think the GOP problems are fundamental, and people are rejecting them or that reason. Of course Trump is a nominee from hell, and is not helping the matter.
I think Kaisch would have beat her. Cruz is too far right. My family is hardcore democrats, but not fans of Hilary. Half of my family would have voted for Kaisch if he was the nominee including me.
Maybe. But Trump has the best ideas on immigration, national security, NATO and foreign affairs, and the best domestic priorities. The other candidates were lackluster in their policies which is why they lost. A toned-down Trump would be fine, but there is no other candidate with the same vision for a better America.
I'm a registered Democrat who has voted for both Republicans and Democrats in the past. I would have likely voted for Kasich over Hillary.
