Former Republican Senator Gordon Humphrey yesterday said Trump is "deranged" and called on the RNC to replace him as the party's nominee.
However, Humphrey said this will happen only if the former Presidents Bush and Mitt Romney demand a special RNC meeting to replace Trump. Humphrey said this trio must act within the next two weeks.
They can't force him out. Trump is the head of the party. If he wanted to fire the RNC chairman he is well within his power at this point. Him dropping out would be worse than him staying. That would ensure a landslide. Now it's only a possibility.
1. The citizens of this nation nominated Trump as their presidential candidate.
2. The GOP establishment is in panic mode. Why? Does ANYONE - for one MINUTE - think that their reservations exist because they believe Trump is bad for the country? Anyone? Bueller??
3. The citizens of this country who voted for Trump do not care that Trump is not a typical conservative politician. They don't care who bails on Trump or jumps ship. They don't even care that the GOP establishment is not supporting Trump.
4. What they DO care about is whether or not the party at least on its face supports the person that they chose as their nominee. It is not Trump who is dividing this party. It is the establishment members who cannot and will not suck it up and back the will of the people. And it is the media who gleefully post any and every story and non-story in a blatant attempt to undermine the now-leader of a major political party in this nation. Screw all of them.

Beating a dead horse! The bottom line is that the GOP is fractured and Trump is the product of it, for now, they can only try to salvage the party by holding on to seats in congress.

So true.
The establishment members need to support the people chosen candidate. They have acted disgracefully. I didn't vote for Trump but I respect that He won and that is it.
Don't expect much better of the media, they showed their colors a long time ago.

The "citizens of this nation" did no such thing. A plurality of the registered Rs who voted nominated Trump. Leave the rest of us out of it, please. We're "citizens of this nation" too, much as you'd like to ignore us.

I agree that the RNC is well and truly stuck between a rock and a hard place. Strangely, I'm not a bit sympathetic. I'm just munching popcorn and watching.

1. Less than 4% of the citizens of this nation voted for Don.
2. See letter from 50 Republican national security professionals.
3&4. Members of either party are under no obligation to support a candidate that they believe is unfit for office.
Fascinating to see Republicans putting country before party.
