I highly doubt it. While Rubio is a great debater, and he is very strong in articulating his point, he's still a conservative. This isn't the 90s, an (R) next to his name automatically makes it impossible for him to have any crossover appeal. Plus he doesn't have the household name celebritum like CLinton or Trump does.

Guys like Kasich would never win. Those Republican-lite candidates never bring enough gravity to bring the undecideds or other Democrats over to their side. Romney was about as moderate as a Republican could have been--and he didn't even come close. The Dems slapped him with the usual catch-all phrases and Republican stereotypes, despite not being a single one of them.

Trump on the otherhand, is a household name,. People recognize his brand whether they follow politics or not. He isn't an establishment type either--so people love that too, plus he's a game changer and doesn't do anything by the book, which enhances his appeal and people's curiosity about him. Trump's plan seems to be to bring out more of that "silent majority" that he believes i out there.

You're probably right. We already had one Republican frat boy and that was a freaking disaster.

Those polls were also conducted a year prior to the actual election.

Cruz would have had a tough time, but I think Hillary hatred might have pushed him over. It is hard to imagine a worse nominee than Trump. He has alienated so many different groups. He is probably going to do worse with minorities and women than Romney. I could see Rubio doing well with those groups. The only reason Trump is still competitive is that Hillary is so disliked.
