One simple reason.
Enough people are FED UP WITH POLITICIANS, that they were willing to give the anti-establishment outsider a chance. Nothing more and nothing less.
Exactly this. Many counties who voted for Obama in 2008 and 2012 voted Trump this time around. I don't think Trump won the election, but I think Hillary lost.
If the democratic party would have nominated someone else, I think the election results might have been different.
That map is useless.

BTW, Hillary lost because of the rules of the election as they stood at the time of voting. If you want to push popular vote over the electoral college, then get the rules changed FIRST, and THEN you can talk about how she actually won.

If the Democratic Party had anyone, ANYONE, besides Hillary, there would probably be a Democrat going into office next year instead of Trump. Would have voted for Bernie, any other Democrat. Personally, I did not vote for either Trump nor Hillary.
I would estimate there are 70 million Democratic Party affiliated women out there who theoretically could have run for office (Elizabeth Warren for example). Out of 70 million women, why did the Democratic Party upper management choose the most corrupt, baggage laden, scandal magnet person on the planet to run? And why did so many people get so emotionally invested over Hillary? I mean, my God, all she had to do was show up for work as Secretary of State for a couple of years and that's that. But no, as soon as she got there, she had to go and "do things her way" and create all the controversy she did, just because she's a Clinton.
The United States is not, never has been, and never claimed or aspired to be a "democracy," and I don't think any minority would want to live in an actual democracy. Do you really think 51% of the people should be able to control the other 49% in every possible situation? That's what a democracy would look like. Majority rule, or as some say, mob rule.
Furthermore, you cannot look at the total votes cast in our election (which most people understand was part of the Electoral College system) and make any meaningful conclusion about the popular vote. In the election process as it now set up, many Trump supporters in, for example, California, did not bother to vote precisely because of the Electoral College. They knew (strongly presumed) their state's electoral votes would all be going to Hillary, and that their Trump vote wouldn't matter in their state (I'm not saying I agree with that mindset, but it definitely happens with the EC in place).
Only if the election had been run as a POPULAR VOTE election, could the votes be viewed in that context. The overall numbers would have been quite different if everyone knew they were voting in a Popular Vote system.
Lastly, the individual votes are still not all counted, will likely remain so close as to be statistically insignificant, and it is the Electors who will cast the votes in December that truly count.
This X 1000. How difficult for people to understand this and stop this majority vote crap and unnecessary rallies.
Hillary lost because she was a lousy candidate, which was in and of itself a by-product of being a pretty lousy excuse for a human being. So irredeemably lousy, in fact, that she managed to make Donald Trump look palatable by comparison.
It's not any more complicated than that.
Memo to the DNC: You need better presidential candidates. If you intend to be competitive in future presidential elections, you'd best get crackin'. Outside of Trump, the other guys still have a lot of young talent on the bench just waiting for their chance. However, for reasons that you at the DNC have yet to adequately explain, you decided to present the choice between two antiquated fossils (Hillary and Bernie) as your presidential nominee. One was completely crazy and the other was an irretrievably corrupt harridan in dire need of a personality transplant.
You folks at the DNC decided it would be a good idea to go with (drum roll, please!) the antiquated corrupt harridan with serious health issues.
And you're surprised that she lost?
Second memo to the DNC: While you're looking for a higher grade of individual candidate to run in the future, you may also want to check into treatment for that reality-dissociative disorder thing you got going on there. That condition just isn't helping you, and you need to do something about it.
Hillary had an unprecedented level of support to run for President which has never been seen in human history:
Despite social media telling everyone Hillary is going to win and how evil Trump was
Despite the Democratic Party upper management colluding with willing main stream media to feed people how evil Trump is and how wonderful Hillary is
Despite all the questionable polls showing Hillary soundly beating Trump up until 6PM PST on election day
Despite all the encouragement of illegals to vote for Hillary (Obama did this)
Despite all the audience plants giving Hillary only questions like "Hillary, what makes you so awesome" and have all the fawning reporters covering her with glowing reports
Despite Hillary practically hiding from the public all of the time except for staged ultra-controlled scripted outings
Despite all the millions of dollars of support from every Globalist on the planet
Despite Soros putting fake Trump supporters who cause mayhem at Trump rallies and the Correct The Record posters here despising them
Despite all the support from major Internet companies to skew web searches and such towards Hillary
Despite the Democratic Party upper management clearing the way of people like Bernie to push Hillary though dirty tricks
Despite Hillary employing "Correct the Record" and paying on-line posters to post trash about Trump

More Americans voted for her than Donald trump
Trump won because of the UNDEMOCRATIC electoral college
