View Poll Results: Does Clinton's Popular Vote Victory Reduce Trump's Mandate?
YES. Trump's vote count is too low to be a mandate for sweeping change. 70 27.89%
NO. Trump won, and that's reason enough for a mandate for sweeping change. 125 49.80%
DOESN'T MATTER. The mandate concept is too vague to mean anything. 56 22.31%

The same thing was said about the democrats in 1988 after bush sr was elected for reagans third term. 1992 swung back to the democrats. It will continue to swing back and forth especially as long as the electoral college remains intact.

The majority of the people in this country favor the liberal candidates. The republicans have lost the popular vote 6 out of the last 7 elections. They won this time because the democrats got off message with the liberal feeling crap and got away from the economy and jobs in addition to slanting the primaries towards a deeply flawed and disliked candidate. When you look at it any republican would've beaten Clinton. Three rust belt states gave trump the electoral college by 97,000 votes combined. That is hardly a mandate or a wave, but yeah he still won because of the electoral college.

At the end of the day the democrats helped create the trump monster and allowing him to become president. Focus on the economy, put up a likable candidate, stop the liberal feeling crap and you beat trump in 2020.

He will continue to tweet lunacy, setting himself to get punched in the gut by his own party and fumbling power and the presidency back to the democrats. It is funny and feel good now. Wait till he is sworn in and president for 18 months or so. The honeymoon will be over by then and if his tweeting and mouth spurn random acts of violence he will suffer a midterm beat down

Which is what they do now already. Might want to think that one through again.

Since Mrs Clinton failed to even do that, you might want to rethink that statement. When we get rid of silliness like the blue wall and the solid south, we will be much better off.

No wonder. 25% of all the illegals here in America live in Ca. That is millions of illegal votes . They got a Ca. drivers license and with that they get a voter registration plus Obama told illegals they should vote.

Votes matter less in an electoral college than by popular vote. Why vote if you are democrat in Wyoming or a republican in California? Your votes do not matter because the way these states are arranged neither voter matters in the electoral college. At least a popular vote counts as a vote toward the winner or loser no matter which state you live in.

The electoral college was created for voter suppression. How anybody can justify it as a democratic system is only in denial. Electoral college math allows 2+2 to equal 5

If the electoral college was a fair and true measure of what America wants then why report the popular vote?

It is eye opening when the loser manages to have 2 million more votes than the the winner. That is not a mandate nor is it a true measure of what the majority of this country's residents want

Oh, but the popular vote does, in fact, matter.

It just burns Trump up that he lost the popular vote.

So much so that he feels it necessary to tweet out lies about it.

California has an estimated 2.4 million undocumented immigrants. In the US, about 23% of the population are 17 or under, so there are about 1.8 million who are 18 and older. In order for there to be 'millions of illegals voting in California' virtually every single one of them would have had to have voted. Even for someone given to embracing conspiracy theories, don't you admit that is very unlikely?

The claim of 3 million non-citizens voting came from a tweet from Gregg Phillips, who has worked for the Republican Party and has a voter fraud reporting app. But Phillips will not provide any evidence to support his claim, which happens to be undermined by publicly available information.

The non citizen license is different than the regular drivers license. Recipients of AB 60 licenses are told to opt out of registering to vote, in order to screen those out who might have registered to vote If the person does not opt out, the DMV electronically transfers their voter registration information to the Secretary of State's office, rather than making election officials enter data by hand from paper registration forms.

Regarding Obama telling illegals that they should vote...not true. Fox edited Obama's comments to make it look that way you can read about it here Obama Encouraged 'Illegal Aliens' to Vote : snopes.com

A MAJORITY of the people who voted wanted neither Clinton or Trump. A MAJORITY is 50% + 1 and currently Hillary has 48% of the popular vote and Donald has 46.2% of the popular vote, neither is going to reach a majority. You are confusing PLURALITY with MAJORITY. Plurality is when a candidate receives more than any other but does not receive an absolute majority (i.e. Hillary Clinton).

Did Hillary receive more of the popular vote than Trump, yes she did (not that it matters because she lost the electoral votes); do a majority of this country's residents want her as President, NO they do not, only 48% want that.

This is the United States because it is the states that are granted the authority to appoint a leader, and thus the electoral college gives a voice to each state.

Cut it out with this popular vote junk. It's happened before and it never mattered.
The popular vote is what should always matter because we the people should be able to choose not the electoral college.

What's your point? If you exclude California, Hillary would of only had 177 electoral votes.

The reality is very likely when Republicans win elections they are going to lose the popular vote just because of California. Just one state. One state that has the largest population out of any state in the country by a large margin ( over 10 million more residents then the 2nd most populated state ). One state shouldn't decide what's best for the nation, especially if it's a state with as many problems as California. Hopefully pretty soon illegals immigrants won't be able to vote anymore anywhere in the nation.
