FL-27 is currently being held by retiring Republican Ileana Ros-Lehtinen. In 2016 it was the Republican district that favored Hillary by the largest margin. It is considered the most likely R seat to flip to the D’s in 2018. The second most likely seat is that of Carlos Curbelo (FL-26). Curbelo is running for re-election and is raising a large warchest, but in the 27th, potential strong candidates, including Lt. Governor Carlos Lopez-Canterra, former school board member and mayoral candidate Raquel Regalado and Spanish-Language TV journalist Maria Elvira Salazar have all declined to run, and 6 Democrats have raised more money than any of the announced Republican candidates.
Quote:
“The seat is now going to go to the Democrats,” said Raquel Regalado, a former Miami-Dade school board member and candidate for Miami-Dade mayor who recently announced she was dropping out of the Republican race to replace Ros-Lehtinen. “I think I was the only moderate who could have fought that fight for a bunch of different reasons. I don’t think you’re going to see a large GOP financial investment. They’re looking for a moderate candidate, but I don’t think they’re going to find one.”

It’s a pretty good article on a traditional R Cuban district that is probably most winnable by the kind of moderate R candidate that you rarely see anymore.
Republicans worry Ros-Lehtinen congressional seat
One of the current R candidates says she was abducted by aliens, so I guess she’ll nail down the UFO vote.
