Yup, that's right. By the time all this dirty laundry is finished being aired, the general election will be fun. What most Dems don't realize is that the majority of Americans aren't like the Democrat Primary voters. They are not idealogues who hate George Bush and want a pacifist, socialist utopia.

Bring on the general election!

It's a long way to November and anything can happen. But if I had to bet today on the election I would place my bet on McCain. The reason is simple: he is the least toxic of the three remaining candidates. Obama is damaged goods. He can't win now. The liberal activist Left, who dominate the primary and caucus process, see little wrong with Obama's association with a racist, anti-semite, un-American preacher (probably because they agree with much that he spews) and so they have tunnel vision when it comes to the damage these revelations have inflicted on Obama's candidacy. But most of the people in this country are appalled by Rev Wright's diatribes and they want nothing to do with him or anyone associated with him. The attraction of Obama was that he was post-racial--not another Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton. But sitting in the pews of a racist church for 20 years he had to have drunk from the same fever swamps as these race pimps. Michelle Obama's anti-American comments suggests exactly that. Barack is just better at hiding it. In any event voters are not going to take the chance. He's toast.

As for Hillary, her negatives have always been high and have remained high through out this whole process. Which means she was always going to have an uphill climb with the general electorate. But now if she were to wrest the nomination from Obama she could kiss the black vote good-bye. And no Democrat can win the election without at least 90% of the black vote. Barring some unforseen event like a major depression there's no way she can pull it off.

That leaves John McCain. Conservatives are not enamoured of him but given a choice between him and Obama or Clinton they'll support him. But he can't win without independents (neither Republicans nor Democrats can elect a president without independent support). But that is where McCain has always been the stongest. In fact without independents he could not have won the Republican nomination. The independents will break for him rather than for Obama or Clinton. And if Obama is the Democrat nominee look for a sizeable portion of the Democrat vote to go to McCain. The last few primaries have demonstrated that the white working person, particularly union people, don't particularly like Obama. Remember Reagan Democrats? We may see McCain Democrats this time around. Finally McCain has appeal with Hispanics. His support of comprhensive immigration reform has positioned him well with that constituency. Hispanics are leery of a black candidate and if Obama is the nominee he's going to be lucky to break even with that group which, ordinarily, is a reliable Democrat coalition partner. Only Hillary could do better than McCain with Hispanics. All in all, it doesn't look good for the Democrat nominee, whoever it turns out to be.
Now this post was a refreshing change... thank you for your thoughtful and mostly accurate observations. Nice to know there is intelligent life on Earth still... I was beginning to wonder. I agree with you on all counts except for your comments about Hillary losing the black voters if Obama loses the campaign. I think black voters are smart enough to protect their interest and they know that Hillary will be the best candidate to do that. Now my question is... what do you think is going to happen now since Obama has beguiled Richardson (a hispanic) to support him so he can now hope to steal the hispanic vote away from Hillary. Looks like McCain will be the next president if the blind Obama worshippers have their way and elect him for democratic candidate. Anyway nice to have an intelligent post from a mature and intelligent observer.

And then the Hillary supporters cry out racism. Then they use the phrase "Cool-Aid" drinking, like we are all ignorant and don't know what is meant by that. Talk about being a hypocrit. Just like Hillary herself. Is that a "typical white woman" response????????

It's spelled Kool-Aid. And your favorite flavor seems to be sour grape.

I guess this is what we have to look forward to if Obama is elected President but he won't be so we don't have to worry.
