Are you kidding? I bet 75% of Dems and media flunkies who live outside of Texas think he's at least half Hispanic.
He is called "Beto".

As a white guy- I have never heard the nickname Beto in my life. I had no clue it was a Hispanic name and would have guessed Irish simply because of the last name O'Rourke. It did not strike me as that different from the cutesy made up or family surname as first name child names everyone seems to love these days.
Honestly, I think if the economy was doing so well, then big companies like GM would not be laying so many people at all this year.
One business, out of millions having serious lay offs and you think that shows a weak economy. What it does seem to show is a product that isn't as well respected as it was a generation or so ago. I have noticed, in the past 5 years I see fewer GM products than in my life time. Tell us some other big businesses that are laying people off by the hundreds or thousands. Some reorganization happens to all major corporations from time to time.
I'm a Robert & hispanic and never heard the nickname "Beto" in my life.
When I first heard it I was wondering where it came from.

Well, isn't it nice to learn something new?
It may not be prevalent with the Cuban or Puerto Rican populations of Florida, but it is apparently not uncommon in other populations with Spanish roots.
