Since it's surfaced, it's all Hillary can talk about. There have been signs, commercials, and even bumper stickers dedicated to bitterness and Obama's quote. What does everyone think of her handling of this situation?
It seems like it hasn't done anything to stop the rise of her negative-perception polling numbers.
If she'd have run a more upbeat, American are Great! -- her party is going to reclaim all three bodies type campaign instead of perpetuating the doom and gloom she'd be better positioned. I don't feel most believe all the bad stuff but it's been pounded in our heads for so long and so persistently that's its tough to ignore.
Should Obama pull off a miracle and get elected it will be almost fun to watch what happens to all this bitterness. He'll keep troops in Iraq. Gas prices will undoubtedly rise as he attacks big oil and gets pulled around by the greenies. Taxes will soar to pay for his agenda. So where will the bitterness be focused? He could set back the Democratic Party a dozen years.
When you get right down to it, the actual policy/positions stance of Hillary and Barrack aren't that different (Iraq vote aside).
The campaigns are night and day though.
WIth Hilary you got doom and glom, things suck, only I can fix it. You got near-Rovian levels of trying to scare us to vote for her.
With Barack you got optimism and hope, things are bad, but together we can fix it. You got positive messages and inspiration to do better for ourselves.
Is it any wonder that people have rallied around Barack?
You would think with all her experience she would know how to run a campaign.
what a great quote.
